Super-stable, value enhanced platform

Based on the Intel 915G and ICH6-R chipset, The XPC delivers cutting-edge features and wicked-fast performance. Supporting socket 775 Prescott processors, the 915G chipset will support a fast 800MHz FSB. What's more, because the SB83G5M kit also supports advanced technologies such as SATA RAID and PCI-E graphics, it is possible to create a range of configurations to suit different end-user needs or price points.

Stealthed port, drive bays

G5' s clean facia is thanks to three well-integrated stealth bay covers. The optical drive, floppy drive and front media ports can all be hidden from view when not in use--providing superior style and visual appeal.

Mirror Front Panel

This G5 chassis uses our high-grade RefleXion material for the sleekness of a mirrored face without the obnoxious flat glare of 1980s bedroom decor. We have even added a subtle dash of holographic color accenting our logo.





 

Versatile Front Panel Display (VFD)

Intelligently designed and integrated, this multi-modal VPD panel serves as a secondary display when the PC is in Home Theater mode. The idea behind this display is to improve media delivery by removing DVD, TV and video track information from the monitor and moving it to a display that does not interrupt viewing pleasure. For example, when watching TV, the VFD will display the TV icon, channel as well as volume information.

Using XPC Tools, you can set the VFD to display your systems ergonomic information. Fan speeds, CPU and system temp can all be displayed

while you are busy gaming or enjoying other cool applications with the XPC MAX, allowing for easy system management and control.

Media Connectivity

The integrated media ports on the XPC SB83G5M' s front panel have been designed for excellent functionality. The space between the USB ports is optimized to make room for two devices such as digital camera and thumb drives to be installed at the same time.

Integrated cable management

Starting with the SN85G4 (production version), all new XPC' s will ship with integrated cable management to ease installation. Silent X Technology

The XPC SB83G5 proudly wears the Silent X technology logo. The Silent X concept is embodied in a number of discreet Shuttle technologies, including; A Silent X PSU, Integrated Cooling Engine (ICE); and Intelligently-engineered airflow mechanics.

Integrated Cooling Engine (ICE) Module

The Integrated Cooling Engine (ICE) included in the SB83G5 improves on the previous XPC ICE design. The ICE module's thermal resistance has been decreased to an amazing .16oC/W. This is more half the thermal resistance of first generation XPCs and almost 1/3 rd that of Intel's BTX standard. Further, the heat exchange surface area has been increased as have the ICE fins. In addition this model sports a huge 92mm cooling fan to quietly push more air out the back of the case.

The Integrated Cooling Engine uses convection (liquid) cooling to transfer heat away from the processor and other critical system components. Copper tubing, coated in nickel and filled with distilled water provides the conduit through which heat is radiated out of the chassis.

Smart Fan

As mentioned the XPC SB83G5 features a new 92mm Smart Fan, capable of 50CFM. This fan features a 4-pin header, i.e PWM spec, and be linearly controlled in BIOS. This fan is designed to spin relatively slowly, depending on the processor using and the heat generated.

XPC Tools Utility

Shuttle XPC Tools is a straightforward thermal, acoustic and performance management application for your XPC. Including several XPC only features, such as "Smart Fan" management and VFD controls, XPC Tools is the only all-round system management application available for the XPC.

 

250 Watt Power Supply

The XPC SB83G5M features the "Super Quiet, Super Cool" Silent X 250W PSU. Designed specifically for the XPC, this PSU features all the necessary cables to deliver optimized performance. Further, all cables come made to length and preinstalled, making it easy for users to setup and configure their XPC. Tested in our acoustic lab from a distance of 50cm (many competitors take measurements at 1M), this Shuttle Silent X 250W PSU produces 32dB (or less) noise.

Intelligently Engineered Airflow

XPC SB83G5M features more air intake points designed to keep the motherboard cool and stable. The chassis and underside of this XPC feature strategically positioned intake points that channel cool air across critical components. These intake points are intelligently- engineered--size and position--to minimize noise.
